WI Avatar Outfit TutorialThis is a featured page

Hey again everyone!

Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own Webkinz Insider Avatar look even better. After this tutorial (you can use Paint or Photoshop) you will be a pro* at making cute and sassy outfits!
* disclaimer---"pro" is a hypothetical term, I am not saying you will be super-expert outfit maker, but you will get some knowledge

Ready? Let's begin!!

Step One: Get a picure. WI has a ton of webkinz avatars....just go to your profile and choose one!

You should have a picture like this:

Step Two: Adding the outline. Using Paint or Photoshop, draw an outline of the outfit you want to create. DO NOT GO OUT OF THE LINES!! (in this case, try to trace the lines that are given to you on the Webkinz). ---note: it is easier (on both Paint & Photoshop) to ZOOM IN (the magnifying glass) when drawing the outfit outline)

Your picture should look something like this:

--another note: use a dark colour to outline!! You'll use lighter colours to fill it in

Step Three: Filling in your outfit. To fill in your outfit, make the colour a little lighter than the outline colour. For Photoshop, use the Colour box on the right and adjust the sliders to make the colour a little bit lighter. For Paint, go to Colours>Edit Colours>Define Custom Colours and choose the lighter shade.

To fill it in, make your brush a bit bigger and....well, fill it!

Your outfit should now look something like this:

Don't worry....it'll look much better after this next step!!

Final Step: Shading and Lightening.

This is a bit harder for those of you on Paint, but what you need to do is lighten (using a darker shade of white, again, Colours>Edit Colours...) anything that you want to be shiny (like a metallic fabric, a bow, belt or ribbon) and darken (use a lighter shade of black) anything that you want to have a shadow. I suggest adding shadows near the stomach, the top of the shirt, and if you have shoes with your outfit, the tip of the shoes.

For Photoshop users, use the Dodge and the Burn tools (explained how to shade in my previous tutorial).

When you are finished, your design should look something like this:

Tah-dah! Doesn't that look much better? And it only took 4 easy-to-follow steps!!

I will reveal how to make objects (belts, necklaces, hats etc.) In my next tutorial. See you then!!

I think it is because when I was on Photoshop I had a dodge tool and when I clicked on it and held I could shade

I'm not quite sure.....I'll have to get back to you on that. I'm pretty sure it's different.

Is shading the same as dodging on Paint Shop Pro 8?
